来源:

On April 16, CGTN interviewed Xu Qinhua, vice Dean of National Academy of Development and Strategy, professor at School of International Studies about the U.S Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry’s travel to Shanghai.

The U.S Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry travelled to Shanghai and Seoul April 14-17, 2021, discussing raising global climate ambition ahead of President Biden’s Leaders Summit on Climate April 22-23 and the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change later this year.

Why forging to have cooperation on climate change issues and how Sino-US two sides bridge big differences in other areas? The answer is seeking the highest common divisor of interests in the climate change with each other among the world nations including the US.

China and US we have the common interests in climate change. COVID-19 help people in the world recognize that the favorable relationshop between nature and human being is of priority. Therefore, the post pandemic world needs green revovery, the cooperation between top GDP two countries can supply the world with the growth motivation which has been thirsty for. Here are the common interests in detail as the following:

Firstly, promoting renewable energy such as wind energy, solar energy and hydrogen energy. Improper competition will make China and the United States miss common development opportunities. Secondly, working together in carbon census and carbon verification. Thirdly, coordinating in green finance and carbon trading which play a crucial role in carbon emission reduction . The forth, China and the US has a high complementary advantages in carbon reduction technology. Besides.carbon emission reduction is a business of trillion dollar both two countries can be enjoying. The returns of the cooperation between two countries will be spilled over to the third party.

The bottlenecks we are facing now is the policy resistance such as the technology regulation, unfair carbon tariff and inproper financial subsidies etc, which seriously hinder the pragmatic cooperation between China and the United States in the development and application of carbon emission reduction technology.
