RUC NADS co-organizes New Inclusive Asia Dialogue, promoting "Connectivity and Inclusive Growth" in Asia

On 14-15 August 2019, National Academy of Development and Strategy (NADS), Renmin University of China (RUC), together with Centre for New Inclusive Asia of Malaysia, Institute of China Studies, University of Malaya and "The Belt and Road Initiative" (BRI) Research Centre, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, co-hosted the New Inclusive Asia Dialogue in Kuala Lumpur under the theme of "Connectivity and Inclusive Growth: Opportunities and Challenges in Asia." The conference attracted hundreds of participants from 11 countries to discuss the significance and impact of BRI on the rise of Asia. 

Ma Liang, assistant dean of NADS, as the representative of the co-organizers, attended the meeting and gave a welcoming speech.

Bai Tian, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Malaysia, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He pointed out that the economic and trade exchanges between China and Malaysia are active. China has the confidence and strength to continue its rapid and high-quality development in the context of US-China trade war. At the same time, he also pointed out that cooperation is beneficial and Asian countries need to work together to promote win-win cooperation through BRI.

As the co-sponsor of the Dialogue, NADS has played an essential role in promoting the "Connectivity and Inclusive Growth" among Asian countries. In the welcoming speech, Ma Liang introduced the development history and innovative Management system of NADS and put forward unique views on inclusive new Asia.

Ma Liang also had in-depth communication and exchanges with Tansri Ong Tee Keat, President of Centre for New Inclusive Asia, and Koh King Kee, President of Centre for New Inclusive Asia. They are building on their existing collaboration by collaborating with think tanks to promote BRI research and policy impact.

During the meeting, Ma Liang also talked with General Surasit Thanadtang, director of Thai-Chinese Strategic Research Center (TCRC), National Research Council of Thailand, about the NADS and its cooperation projects. On November 23, 2018, NADS and TCRC signed MOU to co-build BRI cooperative research center in RUC and held the opening ceremony. The Thai-China BRI cooperative research center was inaugurated in Bangkok on December 18, 2018, providing a platform for promoting collaborative research and policy impact. The two sides indicated that they would further strengthen their cooperation in arranging joint research projects and look forward to co-hosting seminars and press conferences in the future.

At the Dialogue, scholars and policy experts from China, Russia, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and other countries had extensive discussions on BRI, the rise of new Asia, cross-border e-commerce, sustainable development, infrastructure construction & financing and other topics.
